Summit ends with ceasefire talks pledge

A meeting of heads of state or government to discuss major issues and reach agreements.

Summits often produce the deals and statements that set international policy.

An agreement between warring sides to stop fighting, temporarily or as a step toward a lasting peace deal.

Ceasefires save lives and open space for aid and negotiations, but they often break down.
